Chinese Army Day
August 1st Army Day (Army Day) is the anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People's Liberation Army.
On July 11, 1933, the Provisional Central Government of the Chinese Soviet Republic, in accordance with the proposal of the Central Revolutionary Military Commission on June 30, decided that August 1 would be the anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army [5]. On June 15, 1949, the Chinese People's Revolutionary Military Commission issued an order to use the word "August 1" as the main symbol of the flag and emblem of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, this anniversary was renamed the Army Day of the Chinese People's Liberation Army.
According to the "Law of the People's Republic of China on the Protection of Military Status and Rights and Interests", August 1st of each year is the Army Day of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. People's governments at all levels and military units should organize activities such as celebrations and commemorations on the Army Day.
On April 12 and July 15, 1927, after Chiang Kai-shek and Wang Jingwei successively launched the "Qing Communist Party" in Nanjing and Wuhan, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China held a meeting of the Standing Committee of the Provisional Politburo in Hankou, and decided to use the National Revolutionary Army under the control and influence of the Communist Party to An uprising was held in Nanchang, and Zhou Enlai was appointed as the secretary of the Front Enemy Committee, and there were three other members: Li Lisan, Yun Daiying, and Peng Pai. During the uprising, it was commanded by the Front Enemy Committee plus military leaders.
On August 1, 1927, with Zhou Enlai as the secretary, Li Lisan, Yun Daiying, and Peng Pai as members, the Front Enemy Committee was formed to organize and lead the Nanchang Uprising[9] and fired the first shot against the Kuomintang reactionaries in arms. The People's Army led by the Communist Party of China has since born. But for quite a period of time after the Nanchang Uprising, people have not realized its symbolic significance. The Sixth National Congress of the Communist Party of China, held from June to July 1928, believed that the Guangzhou Riot in 1927 was the beginning of the Soviet revolution in China, and officially decided "Guangzhou Riot Day" (December 11) as a fixed commemoration day. In 1929, a severe economic crisis broke out in the capitalist world. The Comintern believes that this economic crisis will inevitably evolve into a new imperialist war. Therefore, the Communist International decided on August 1 to call on the proletariat and oppressed nations of the world to mobilize and oppose imperialist wars. On July 27, 1929, in response to the call of the Communist International, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China issued the "Declaration of the Communist Party of China for the August 1st International Red Day", calling for anti-imperialist demonstrations to be held on August 1st. According to the decision of the Communist International, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China designated August 1st as the "August 1st International Red Day", also known as "August 1st Anti-war Day" or "August 1st Anti-Imperialist War Day". Therefore, before 1933, "August 1st" was not regarded as the Army Day of the People's Army, but was designated as "Anti-Imperial War Day" to commemorate.
On June 23, 1933, the Provisional Central Committee of the Communist Party of China made the "Resolution on the "August 1st Anti-Imperialist War Day"", stating: "This year'August 1st Anti-Imperialist War Day" is suitable for commemorating the founding of the Red Army. It should be pointed out to the general public that only China The Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army is the only savior for the toiling masses in China, and mobilizes the masses in the white areas to celebrate the victory of the Red Army...” This is the first time that the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China has clearly defined “August 1” as the anniversary of the founding of the Red Army. On June 30, the Central Revolutionary Military Commission issued an order "About Deciding "August 1st" as the Founding Day of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army", pointing out: "On August 1, 1927, the proletarian party-the Nanchang Party led by the Communist Party took place. This riot is the beginning of the anti-imperialist agrarian revolution and the source of the heroic Workers' and Peasants' Red Army." On July 11 of the same year, the People's Committee of the Provisional Central Government of the Chinese Soviet held its 45th meeting and decided to use August 1 as the Chinese Red Army Memorial Day. On the same day, the Provisional Central Government of the Chinese Soviet, chaired by Mao Zedong, approved this decision. Since 1933, the Nanchang Uprising Day has been designated as the anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army, and has become the Army Day of the People's Army.
On June 15, 1949, the Chinese People's Revolutionary Military Commission issued an order stipulating that the word "August 1" should be used as the main symbol of the flag and emblem of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, this anniversary was renamed the Army Day of the Chinese People's Liberation Army.
