What is metal ink?
Tin printing ink, one of lithographic inks. A general term for inks applied to letterpress offset printing machines and wet offset printing methods for printing iron sheets (tinplate) and for processing steel sheets, aluminum sheets, and other metals. Iron printing ink can be divided into inner coating and outer coating. External coatings can be divided into printing white ink and roller coating white ink, color ink, varnish, etc.
Features and Applications
The main characteristics of iron printing ink are strong adhesion to metal sheets, resistance to cooking, baking, solvent resistance, light resistance and good processability (forming, punching, seaming, etc.). Drying forms include baking and UV curing. The resin binders and pigments used in the manufacture of iron printing inks are strictly selected and specially processed to meet the requirements of iron printing technology and food hygiene requirements.
Iron printing ink is widely used in the printing of food, beverage cans, thermos bottle shells, toys, cosmetic boxes, etc.
Influencing factors
Iron printing inks are heat-setting inks that require high temperature drying. The particularity of iron printing determines that there are many factors that affect the color change of ink.
deployment
Inaccurate weighing or uneven mixing during preparation
Ink blending is to weigh the corresponding amount of the original ink of each component according to the ink ratio, and then put them together and stir evenly. At present, electronic scales are generally used for weighing. When the operator we ighs the original ink, the ink color may be inaccurate during printing due to inaccurate weighing or uneven stirring during blending, especially when blending light-colored inks. , such as pink, light green, light blue, etc. Light-colored inks are generally prepared by adding a large amount of white ink or diluent to the original ink of the corresponding hue. The proportion of the original ink is small, but the color rendering effect in the spot color ink is obvious. If the weighing of the original ink is slightly inaccurate, the hue of the spot color ink will be greatly affected.
Make a standard color draft
When making standard color drafts (proofing), the proportion of small batches of spot color inks is not accurate
In iron printing, the standard color draft used to guide printing is made by proofing. The spot color ink used in proofing is a small batch of ink prepared by the operator. After the sample is made, it will become the standard color draft for guiding printing after the customer's signature and confirmation. Once the customer signs and confirms, the ink ratio of the spot color on the standard color draft will be based on the ratio when the small batch of ink is prepared during proofing. If the proportion of small batches of inks is not accurate, the color difference will be very large when large batches of inks are mixed during printing. This difference is especially reflected in spot color inks with large differences in the proportions of the original inks of each component. For example, yellow: magenta = 100:1, yellow: magenta: cyan = 100: 8: 0.3, etc., if the ink with a ratio of 1 or 0.3 is weighed, the weighing is slightly inaccurate. Colors may vary greatly.
Diluent oil addition
Too much diluent oil (varnish) added
Iron printing ink has the characteristics of resistance to mechanical processing, and its properties are characterized by high viscosity and low fluidity, which is very unfavorable to the transfer of ink during printing. In order to improve its printability, an appropriate amount (below 5%) of diluent is often added to reduce ink adhesion and improve fluidity. However, the amount of diluent should not be too much, because the tinplate should be baked in an oven at 150°C-180°C for 10-15 minutes after printing. During the baking process, the diluent and ink are dried together. If the thinner is added too much, the ink will be too thin, and the dots will become weak after baking, and the solids will not be solid, and the color of the ink will change accordingly, resulting in differences between the actual printed color and the standard color draft.
